Is there more to life. . .

Is there more to life than working hard, spending quality time with loved ones, and doing our best to keep fit?

Or could there possibly be less to life than the constant worry, the stress and the dreaded dramas that seem to occupy our thoughts more often than we’d like?

If, like me, you attended art school you likely heard the phrase less is more. When it comes to meditation, whilst we stand to gain a lot from maintaining a regular practice, we’re equally likely to lose just as much. But, you may ask, if we seek to experience the fullness of life, why adopt a practice that takes something away from us, something more than just our time?

Relative to the benefits of meditation, less is more most definitely applies. Less stress. Less worry. Less anxiety. Less inaction due to fear. Less frustration. Less exhaustion. Less arrogance. Less ignorance. Less irritability. All of which equals More space. More energy. Greater focus. Greater flow. More freedom. More LIFE.

I recall distinctly the thoughts and emotions I experienced on the way to day one of learning Vedic meditation. Most profound was that it was likely some “over-the-top spiritual bullshit”, and having had meditated for quite a few years already, I’d likely gain nothing. Four days later I was driving through Ripponlea - having just finished the course in Elwood and treated myself to a vegan doughnut - laughing out loud at how incredible I was feeling. I simply couldn’t believe it.

Now, note well that this high doesn’t last with quite the same concentrated intensity. Instead it spreads slowly out across all our waking hours as we begin to integrate the benefits of 2 x 20min daily meditations; something I’d take any day over a flash-in-the-pan high!

Needless to say, my concerns regarding potential ‘spiritual’ trash were entirely unfounded; Vedic meditation specialises in being all-inclusive. So if you fear that one must sit in a circle, hold hands and sing kumbaya (not that there’s anything wrong with that) in order to meditate, you’d be mistaken. All it takes is a little curiosity - and the willingness to act on it - and you’re well on your way.

So remember, what you stand to gain from a regular meditation practice is equally as beneficial as that which you are likely lose. Get in touch with BEST MIND now and we’ll get to work on revealing the gold that resides in us all.
